UMFK wins Shootout against Delhi
The University of Maine at Fort Kent basketball teams earned a split with visiting SUNY Delhi on Friday afternoon, with the women dropping a 68-54 decision and the men picking up a 93-87 win. The men improve to 16-6 while the women fall to 7-9.
In the men’s game, SUNY Delhi started out on a 10-2 run, but the Bengal offense caught power and shot a season-high 61% for the game. UMFK built a 66-54 lead with 9:31 to go, but full-court pressure from the Broncos closed the gap to just three points with a little over three minutes to go. However, the Bengals made their foul shots down the stretch and won their 10th consecutive game on the season.
Anthony Knight led the Bengals with 25 points. Bobby Syvanthong had a triple-double with 12 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists. Troy Williams had 17 points, nine rebounds and six assists. Benson Arogbo, Tom Enerva, and Jarid Walton all scored in double figures as well with 12, 12, and 11.
Delhi was led by William Knight, who had 22 points.
