UMFK Volleyball Completes Sweep of Homecoming Weekend

The University of Maine at Fort Kent Women’s Volleyball team swept Unity College in straight sets today in both matches (25-8, 25-8, 25-6) to keep UMFK undefeated on Homecoming Weekend. In the first match of the evening, the Bengals never trailed as the team cohesiveness proved strong. Payton Spragling set up Luse Lumas repeatedly for powerful kills over the net, racking up the points for UMFK. Marisol Kirkendall also contributed stellar defense, diving all over the floor to keep loose balls alive.

In the second match, UMFK triumphed over the visiting Rams in straight sets again (25-8, 25-7, as a variety of Bengals got in on the scoring action. Ericka Gutierrez, Rachel Nance, Vanessa Lopez, and Justine McCorkle all showed flashes of brilliance at the net scoring for the Bengals. Ashlyn Ferreria, Haley West, and Beatriz Garrido all contributed on the defensive end in an incredible display of hustle, never letting the visiting Rams get past 11 points.

The Bengals will face Unity in a rematch on Sunday at Unity.
